Being almost the end of the year, I am always inspired to reflect on how my year has gone – what highs and lows have been, who has been influential in my life, what skills, attributes and lessons I have learnt and where I am at. I find myself asking “Am I truly happy?”, (happy in myself, happy in my life, happy with my routines and habits, happy with where my life is headed).
Because I routinely journal and practice conscious living, I often ask myself these questions separately, but it is nice to do a ‘yearly stock-take of your happiness’ by setting the time aside and journaling, writing or just finding a peaceful spot and thinking these things.
This can also be such a lovely thing to do as a family or with your children. It is so nice to hear what highlights your children had, what they would love to do again (not do again), and how they are feeling in themselves.
It can also be the start of a beautiful ritual, listening compassionately, with one open heart to another, sharing passions, heartaches, loves, losses (which are all important aspects of life).
Some ways to add to this is to write down any changes you wish to make onto card and put them in a jar or hang them on a branch displayed in the house. I also write a card or email to all those people that have been influential, sending them gratitude for this. It may also be the perfect time to forgive all those (including yourself), that need it in your life.
Our time on Earth is meant to be one of happiness, harmony and joy – let’s all start moving towards that place together…
Much love, Lorella x
